A man dressed as a clown was seen on the walkway over the Palmetto near Southwest 40th Street holding what appeared to be a large, black object – possibly a weapon, according to police.

Total Traffic also shared a video of the clown running from the walkway and officers later arriving to the scene. Police said the person was not located.

Miami-Dade Police believe he was last seen in the area of Westchester, near Southwest 35th Street and 76th Avenue.

Images from Chopper 6 showed major bumper to bumper traffic early Monday morning after at least three cars were involved in the crash.

At this time, drivers are urged to seek an alternate route.

FHP said the crash happened at around 11:40 a.m. on SR 826 eastbound at 17th Avenue.

Aerial footage from the scene showed the car with heavy damage after it apparently struck a tree on the highway’s shoulder.

All westbound and eastbound lanes were at one point shut down. The westbound lanes have since reopened.

The victim’s name was not immediately available.

It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or if anyone else may be hurt.

Three lanes were shut down, causing traffic to be near a standstill on SR-826 South at SR-934/NW 74 Street. Express lanes did not appear to be affected.

All lanes have since reopened.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said the crash appeared to involve a single vehicle. One person was airlifted to a nearby trauma center from the scene, officials said.

Authorities are investigating and did not immediately provide more information about the person injured.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 6 a.m. on the southbound lanes of State Road 826, in the area of NW 25 Street.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the crash involved five cars including one Sunny Isles Police Ford SUV. A man was taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital as a trauma alert patient.

The officer did not sustain any injuries, troopers said.

Several southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway were shut down due to the crash, but the lanes were later reopened.

At this time, officials have not released any additional information on the condition of the other drivers involved in the crash.

Chopper 6 was over the scene on SR 826, near Southwest 8th Street, where there were major backups and a heavy police presence just after 11:00 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol officials later said that the highway had to be closed momentarily during a follow-up to a fatal crash investigation.

Two northbound lanes of State Road 826 were blocked for hours after the multi-vehicle crash at Northwest 25th Street that happened around 5 a.m..

Traffic cameras showed heavy traffic forming on the scene of the accident.

All lanes have been reopened and traffic has gone back to normal.

NBC6 has reached out to authorities for further information on this crash. It’s unknown if there were any fatalities or injuries.

One of the crashes was reported around 6:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near Okeechobee Road.

Florida Highway Patrol officials later said there were three separate crashes all in that same area, with around 10 vehicles involved.

Footage showed all but one express lane shut down and major backups shortly after the crashes. FHP officials said four lanes were open by around 7:45 a.m.

It was unknown if there were any injuries.

One crash occurred along the southbound express lanes of the Palmetto Expressway at Northwest 103rd Street, causing both express lanes to close.

And another crash on the Palmetto northbound also caused delays at Northwest 103rd Street. That scene was later cleared.

The initial crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway near Northwest 36th Street around 6 a.m.

Aerial footage shows several cars involved in the crash, with traffic moving slowly through the scene. Lines of traffic could be seen stretching far down the southbound lanes.

One car appeared to be mangled and facing traffic near the express lane while other vehicles also appeared to have major damage.

Miami-Dade Police officials said one of their officers was assisting the Florida Highway Patrol with the crash and had positioned her vehicle to block traffic when another vehicle crashed into her car.

The officer was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. in the southbound lanes of State Road 826 near Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there were four vehicles involved in the crash: a gray Honda, a silver Nissan, a silver Volkswagen, and a white Ford.

All four vehicles were traveling south on State Road 826 within the center outside lane when traffic came to a stop. The driver of the Honda failed to stop in time for traffic ahead and as a result, the Honda collided into the Nissan, FHP officials said.

The initial collision caused a series of secondary crashes to occur with the other vehicles, the FHP said. 

Officials confirmed the driver of the Nissan, an adult Hispanic man, died on scene as a result of his injuries. His identity wasn’t released.

All southbound lanes of State Road 826 were closed as a result, and traffic was being diverted onto Northwest 154th Street. 

Traffic cameras show cars bumper-to-bumper driving past the crash on the right shoulder during heavy morning rush hour.

But video captured by NBC6 shows the complete destruction of the vehicles involved in the fatal crash.

Troopers were on scene investigating the crash, but were urging drivers to seek an alternate route.

Florida Highway Patrol said the incident took place just before 9 p.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes near Northwest 57th Avenue.

Troopers found a black pickup truck with a bullet hole in the rear window and the driver inside suffering from a gunshot wound in the right shoulder.

The victim, who was not identified, was transported to Ryder Trauma Center with non life-threatening injuries and later transferred to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

FHP continues to investigate the shooting, saying it may have been related to road-rage.
